Pro Football Focus: Dante Rosario is an average starter

The article isn’t about Dante Rosario. However, I just thought this was something that could be passed along. Pro Football Focus has been ranking the NFL rosters. The Chicago Bears, the team Rosario is currently on, was ranked 15th. Windy … Continue reading Pro Football Focus: Dante Rosario is an average starter

Details emerge on Dante Rosario contract situation

We already talked about how odd this Dante Rosario thing has been. I figured it was a contract thing. It would seem like it’s a good guess. The Chicago Tribune says a source familiar with the contracts knows what the problem was: The Bears declined to divulge the reason behind the series of moves, but a source that has reviewed both contracts has come up with an explanation. The Bears signed Rosario to a minimum salary benefit contract (meaning his salary-cap figure is lower than his base salary, a provision in the collective bargaining agreement to encourage teams to use … Continue reading Details emerge on Dante Rosario contract situation

The Dante Rosario saga continues: Rosario re-signed by Chicago Bears again

Man, this has been a ride. Let’s recap: The Chicago Bears re-signed Dante Rosario after a season with the team. All was well. Then, almost two weeks later, he was released. Then, Bears GM sort of explains why they released him, and even hinted that Dante would be back. Sure enough, that’s what happened: It was apparently something procedural with his contract that needed to be addressed. That’s why Dante was released in the first place. And, again, team GM said that Dante didn’t do anything wrong. He said this was something that needed to be done though. And, if … Continue reading The Dante Rosario saga continues: Rosario re-signed by Chicago Bears again

Chicago Bear’s GM explains why Dante Rosario was released

Here’s a quote by general manager of the Chicago Bears, Phil Emery, on why the Bears released Rosario just under two weeks after signing him: “We released him, like we do with players,” Emery said. “There’s a good chance he’ll come back like we do with players. There isn’t anything other than that, just a process we’re going through. It’s a very fluid period. We like Dante. It isn’t anything he did.” As I figured in the original post, it was probably about business. There was talk about freeing up cap space to go after a better guy. And, as … Continue reading Chicago Bear’s GM explains why Dante Rosario was released

Chicago Bears release Dante Rosario

Well, just 11 days after signing him, the Chicago Bears decided to cut Dante Rosario: The 29-year-old Rosario appeared in 15 regular season games for Chicago in 2013, starting three. According to Pro Football Focus, Rosario played 186 snaps for the Bears last season. From looking at reactions from Bears fans, I got two top reactions: That’s messed up that they release a guy right after signing him They released him for cap space to go after needed defensive help Rosario is a TE, which is an offensive player. So, the second point would make sense. Of course, the first … Continue reading Chicago Bears release Dante Rosario

Chicago Bears re-sign Dante Rosario

The Chicago Bears have brought back TE Dante Rosario on a one year deal. Chicago Tribune has the scoop: The Chicago Bears on Thursday re-signed veteran tight end Dante Rosario to a one-year contract, the team announced. They still are expected to seek a tight end, likely in the later rounds of the draft or a priority undrafted free agent, to complement first-stringer Martellus Bennett. Rosario, 29, had only one reception last season for 13 yards. So it looks like Dante might just be a body out on the field. But hey, nothing to be ashamed of. What do you … Continue reading Chicago Bears re-sign Dante Rosario
